ENTER THE DEVIL

GOAL: ADDING EXTRA VALUE TO A HOME CINEMA RELEASE

The ENTER THE DEVIL one-shot adapts the classic horror movie "Enter the Devil", directed by Frank Q. Dobbs in 1972, in a 12-page black & white comic-book.

Home cinema distributor Massacre Video commissioned me via Sparkle Comics to make a comic-book adaptation of the film "Enter the Devil" for a release they were preparing. The goal was to release the film in a Blu-ray/DVD combo in a slipcase, containing not only the movie but also its comic adaptation in a pocket-sized comic-book, adding to the release an extra value that permited a higher price and led the edition to become highly collectable.

I scripted, pencilled, inked and lettered all the interior pages. I also illustrated the cover for the comic (it was colored by Nae Ed). I had full freedom to do so with the only premise I had to compress a 75-minute film into 12 comic pages. Massacre Video provided me with a digital copy of the film to do so.

The success of the Massacre Video edition of "Enter the Devil" led Blood Scream Comics to release the standalone comic one year later in a regular comic-book size.
